Sillimanite Brick Details
Sillimanite brick is a firebrick with good properties prepared by high temperature firing or mud pouring of silicalite minerals. Silicalite is calcined at high temperature and converted into Mullite and free silica. Generally, high temperature firing method and mud pouring method are used for production.
Silicalite is a kind of natural refractory mineral, which has the characteristics of low thermal expansion rate, resistance to the erosion of metallurgical slag and various glass liquids, and good wear resistance at high temperature. Its physical and chemical properties are better than those of high aluminum brick, its fire resistance is 1770~1830℃, and the initial point of load softening is 1500~1650℃. Sillimanite brick is mainly used for forming liquid tunnel of glass tank kiln, blast furnace lining, furnace throat and ceramic industry kiln furniture. The natural silicalite - based refractories also have these advantages. Therefore, sillimanite brick is widely used in metallurgy, chemical and building materials industries.
Choice of aggregate
As can be seen from the granularity composition of sillistone, most of the coarse grains are below 0.2mm, which is too fine for coarse grains and too coarse for fine powder, which brings difficulties to reasonable particle grading. If the granulation is re-sintered, the production cost will be greatly increased, so appropriate coarse grains must be selected to meet the requirements of production and product performance. The mineral with similar properties to silicalite is mullite. The thermal expansion rate of synthetic mullite is 0.53% at 1 200 ℃, which is very close to that of natural silicalite. Therefore, it is more reasonable to introduce the coarse particles of synthetic Mullite into the silica wire stone products. After comparison, the synthetic mullite is selected from Chenxi, Hunan, and the crystal phasor of mullite is ≥95%.
Selection of binder
The physical and chemical properties of the binder for silicalite products are best close to that of natural silicalite, especially the chemical composition and thermal expansion coefficient, which should be basically consistent with that of natural silicalite. Comparatively speaking, the high-aluminum binder can meet these requirements, so the high-aluminum binder is selected.

Semi-silica brick refers to an aluminum-silicon refractory product with a SiO2 content of greater than 65% and an Al2O3 content of 15% to 30%. They generally use clay containing quartz impurities or native kaolin refractory clay or tailings and pyroph...
The Al2O3 content of anchor bricks is above 55%, and some users require that the alumina content reach 75%, and the load softening temperature of 75% bricks reaches 1550C. However, in actual use, anchor bricks with high aluminum content cannot be enough. The key is Flexibility is the most important t...
