Sillimanite-Kyanite Details
Sillimanite-Kyanite is mainly produced in regional metamorphic crystalline schist, and its metamorphic facies range from greenschist facies to amphibolite facies.
Features:
(1) Thermal expansion: It is converted into a mixture of mullite and kyanite during the heating process. During this conversion process, the mineral expands in volume and forms a good needle-like network of inlite, which expands in volume. The rate is 16-18%.
(2) Stability: The stability of refractories produced by kyanite minerals is 1.5 times higher than that of clay refractories. Kyanite refractory bricks have a 43% lower loss than clay bricks and have a life span of 150-200 furnaces longer than clay bricks.
(3) High refractoriness: The refractoriness of general clay refractory materials is 1670-1770℃, while the refractory materials of kyanite are usually higher than 1790℃, and the highest is higher than 1850℃.
(4) Irreversibility: Calcining kyanite mineral into mullite is an irreversible transformation. It is stable at a temperature below 1810°C. Therefore, mullite refractories have the characteristics of stable volume at high temperature, low expansion rate, strong chemical resistance, high mechanical strength and strong thermal shock resistance.
Application:
(1) As a permanent expansion characteristic (directly adding unshaped refractory materials, such as castables, plastics, and cement as high-temperature expansion agent), only adding 5% to 15% can improve the load softening temperature compressive strength of the product, Improve the line change index after burning, eliminate the shrinkage cracks, peeling off and affect the service life of the amorphous refractory material during high temperature and cooling, so as to prolong the service life of the furnace lining.
(2) Aluminate fibers produced from kyanite high alumina minerals can be used to make parts for automobiles, spacecraft and radar.
(3) The mullite formed by calcination can be used to make high-grade refractory materials, which can prolong the furnace life by 5-6 years and save energy when used in high-temperature furnaces.
(4) It can be made into kyanite cement by adding 5% to 15% of high alumina cement. The refractory temperature is as high as 1650℃, which can be used in military construction.
